Before you started wedding planning, you might not have thought much about all the pre-wedding events that you’ll not only attend, but where you’ll also be the main focus. What are all of the outfits you'll need? We’re talking engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party and rehearsal dinner all before your actual big day. Along with all these events comes the question, “What should I wear?” And, well, we might be able to help.

These days, many brides wear white...

for their pre-wedding events in addition to the beautiful white gown they’ll wear for a ceremony and reception. If this is something you’re planning to do as well, the main rule to live by is to match your outfit to the occasion.

Engagement Party

If your engagement party is a more casual affair, a white blouse paired with dark wash jeans might just do the trick, or maybe a pair of white skinny jeans with a neutral/nude top. For a more formal affair, consider a white or off-white midi dress or skirt.

Bridal Shower

The same ideas apply to bridal showers, though they tend to be a bit dressier. A dress or skirt could be the way to go, but be sure to coordinate your outfit with the event—a nicer dress wouldn’t work as well for small bridal shower in your living room, but would be excellent for a get-together at a rented venue.

Bachelorette Party

The outfit you wear for you bachelorette party all depends on the type of event your bridesmaids have planned. Your look could fit anywhere between a white swimsuit for a lake day, a white set of pajamas for a girls-night-in, or a white dress suited for a night out on the town.

Rehearsal Dinner

And finally—your rehearsal dinner. Many brides will traditionally wear a nicer dress to allude to the next day’s festivities, but there are fewer and fewer “rules” as time goes on. A simple white dress, jumpsuit, or maybe even nice jeans with a white blazer are all solid options depending on your particular event.

Remember, these guidelines are just a jumping-off point as you adapt each event’s outfit to your own personal style.

Your looks don’t have to be white, and you can even wear the same outfit twice if you don’t mind and if you don’t think those closest to you will either. No matter how you dress in the events leading up to your wedding day, we’re sure you’ll look lovely in anything.
