When you think of having a dress custom-made, a few different thoughts may come to mind:

“Only a celebrity would wear a custom gown.”

“I couldn’t afford a bridal designer to custom make me a dress.”

“I would rather find one in the store or online where I can just pay to get it altered.”

“If the gown is custom-made, how will I know if I even like it?"

"Are custom gowns affordable?"

What if I told you that having a custom gown made is something you can afford, it is common for brides to do, and that we can build your dream gown for you?

Weddings are expensive, and, let’s be honest, your wedding gown budget isn’t the category you probably want to skimp on. In fact, the national average cost of a bridal gown is $1,631, and the Midwest average is $1,420. On top of that, you’ll need to budget about 20% of your gown price for added alterations.

The wedding gown alterations we offer typically range from $300 to $500. Our custom gowns typically range from $1,500 to $3,000 with no additional charge for alterations because the gown is cut to your measurements and proportions from the beginning. When it comes to wedding gowns, you get what you pay for, and whether you have your gown alterations done here or a custom gown made, you are guaranteed to get high quality craftsmanship from our team at Vanya Designs. We are here to help you feel beautiful on your wedding day.

Aside from cost, you might be wondering if you are going to miss out on the experience of trying on wedding gowns.

We actually encourage our custom brides to try on wedding dresses before their design consultation so they know which fabrics they like and the style of dress they are looking for. The design process is its own unique experience. You’ll get to see your dream wedding gown built from the ground up, and if you want changes made in the process, it’s no problem at all. Your dress is being built in a span of 6 months to a year, and during those first few fittings your dress can be reworked to better suit you. If you are still unsure about the process and have more questions, please feel free to reach out and get in contact with one of our designers who will give you a better idea of what your gown is going to cost and how we can bring your dress dreams to life.
