FAQ

Design Process

How long does it take to make a custom dress?

We prefer to have 6 months to complete the design process. It is recommended to order your custom gown 6 months to a year before your wedding date.

That said, we can accommodate any wedding date that is 4 months out or further.

Learn more about the design process HERE.

How about rush orders?

We can accommodate wedding dates earlier than four months, on a case by case basis. Although not recommended, we did make a dress in 2 weeks!

Please Contact Us and we will let you know if we can rush your order.

How should I prepare for my consultation?

Feel free to bring magazine photos, show us your Pinterest board and any other inspiration ideas you have!

Your Designer will sketch your gown as you’re visiting and help you choose design details like colors, laces and fabrics that fit your vision, body and style.

Not sure what style will look best on you? No worries! Our experienced Designers will guide you and we even have sample gowns in the studio that you can try on. Check out our body shape style guide HERE.

This consultation is all about you and your vision - we’re here to bring it to life! Your consultation will take approximately 1 hour.

Do you do virtual appointments?

Yes! You can book your virtual appointment on our scheduling page or by calling our studio!

How do I take measurements for my virtual appointment?

Your designer will be with you virtually to guide you on measurements! We will send you a detailed instructional guide. However, if you’re still worried, we’ve also made an instructional video for you to watch here!

How much does it cost?

We will work with you on the price of your gown, and curate a design package based on your preferences.

The price of your gown will depend on your unique design needs, including type of fabric, details, beadwork, and hand-applique'.

Heirloom Re-Design prices range from $2000-$3800.

Our gowns are made to measure which should reduce or eliminate added alteration charges.

To request a quote, please fill out this form or text photos to (316) 285-6025.

Are there any hidden costs?

Definitely not! Together, we will agree upon a design based on our discussion, pictures and a sketch, and fabric samples.

A price quote will be given at the initial meeting. In some cases, the bride may want to change a design element after we’ve quoted the gown. If the design change will add to your price, we will let you know at the time the change is requested.

Do I pay for my dress at the time of ordering? Or do you accept partial payment?

A deposit of half down (50%) is required to order your dream gown. We will set up a payment schedule on the balance of your gown. A payment will be due at each of your first four fittings, which will be scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks apart.

How do you ensure my dress will fit?

There will be a series of design checkpoints.

The first will be a lining or “mock'-up” fitting. For Virtual Vanya Brides, we will ship your lining to you and your designer will virtually help you and a friend pin and mark any adjustments. Local Vanya Brides will meet with their designer in our studio.

During this fitting we will determine any fit and design features.  At this point, design features, style lines, and fit can be changed. There may be an additional charge for design changes made at this point. Please note that once the garment is cut in the selected fabric, very few (if any) changes can be made to design and style features.

We do not charge for alterations unless your measurements have changed after the final fitting, in which case standard alteration rates would apply. For more information about our design process, click here.

We won't let your dress leave our studio until you are 110% happy with it!!!

What if my size or weight changes after I order my gown?

The garment will be custom-made according to the initial measurements taken or provided.  If there is an active weight loss plan in place or if a pregnancy occurs, it is necessary to notify Vanya Designs as soon as possible. If the garment needs to be significantly altered due to weight loss or gain after the third fitting, there may be an additional charge. If you have notified us regarding any significant measurement changes at least two weeks prior to your third fitting, this additional charge may be waived.

We want you to feel beautiful and loved and will work with you throughout the design process to make sure we achieve these results!

How does “Made to Measure” work?

We will take your custom measurements at your consultation. Our expert designers will then sew your gown from the ground up.

Because you will have several fittings, don't stress if your size fluctuates throughout the process. At each fitting, we will re-measure, pin, and adjust the gown to fit your body.

Out of state brides, visit ourVirtual FAQ page.

How often can I check in on my gown?

We will schedule four fittings with you where you will meet with your designer and see the process of your gown. You are included every step of the way! Your designer will send you images, too, so you’ll always know just how your gown is coming along! (Just make sure future hubby isn’t around!).

We usually schedule these fittings or virtual checkpoints about 4-6 weeks apart.

Don't worry! Some more elaborate designs require more than 4 fittings, we will schedule those at no additional charge.

What should I bring to my fitting?

It is important to bring the undergarments you plan to wear on your special day and your shoes. This would include any shapewear or petticoat/slips. If you don't have the exact undergarments yet, bring something you have that you feel beautiful and confident in. It is also a good idea to bring a friend or family member who knows you well. You will be in excellent hands with our consultants, but it's always nice to have the support of a loved one to help answer questions and learn how to do those bustles!

As a Vanya Bride, you get 50% off your steaming/cleaning and your veil is included with that price! Our standard steaming prices are between $85-$143, and you get HALF off of that price!!!

We offer a complimentary steaming for all invoices over $900.

What is your alterations policy on garments purchased elsewhere?

Vanya Designs Alterations Policy: We are committed to working with you to alter your garment to fit your needs. However, Vanya Designs will only guarantee our own work, and is not responsible for the garment’s original quality of work. Not all formal wear, brought in for alterations, is constructed to the same high quality. When a garment is poorly constructed, often the alterations are extensive and, therefore, may require additional fittings.

New fittings/alterations may be subject to additional charges.

New alterations due to size changes will be subject to additional cost. All new charges will be discussed with you before any new alterations are performed, and you will be held financially responsible for all work Vanya Designs does on the garment you contracted with us to alter.
